LEARN ABOUT THE SERVICES WE OFFER
MEDICAL SERVICES
At the Dr. Oswaldo Loor Foundation, highly qualified eye care professionals work with modern equipment to provide solutions to a variety of visual disorders.
OPHTHALMOLOGIC SERVICES
OPHTHALMOLOGIC
CARE
The following treatments are performed by the ophthalmologists of the Foundation:
Eliminates posterior capsule opacification, which may arise in patients who have undergone cataract surgery.
A treatment that, when performed in a timely manner, prevents the proliferation of diabetic retinopathy preventing permanent damage.
SURGICAL
CARE
In the operating room of our Portoviejo medical center, we perform the following surgeries:
A cataract is an opacification of the normally clear lens of the eye. For people who have cataracts, seeing through opaque lenses is somewhat like looking through a frosted or fogged window. The cloudy vision caused by cataracts can make it more difficult to read, drive a car (especially at night) or see the expression on the face of a friend.
Pterygium is the growth of a fleshy tissue that can be located on the side of the eye closest to the nose, although it can occur on the opposite side. This tissue can grow to a size large enough to cover part of the cornea. When this happens, it can affect your vision.
Strabismus (crossed eyes) is a common eye condition among children. It occurs when the eyes are not aligned correctly and point in different directions (misalignment). One eye may look straight ahead and the other eye may point toward the nose, outward, upward, or downward. The misalignment may alternate between one eye and the other.
Glaucoma is a disorder that damages the optic nerve of the eye. This damage is often caused by higher-than-normal pressure in the eye. It can occur at any age but is most common in seniors. Many forms of glaucoma have no warning signs, which is why it is important to have regular ocular examinations.
At the medical center of the Foundation we also perform chalazion surgeries, blepharoplasties, lacrimal duct probing, eviscerations, ocular mass extractions, conjunctival and corneal sutures, among others.
An anesthesiologist assists in the surgeries to provide the patient and the surgeon with greater safety in each surgical procedure. In addition to the three ophthalmologists, the Foundation counts with two anesthesiologists, two general
SPECIAL
EXAMINATIONS
The following special ophthalmological examinations are performed our medical center:
Determines the power of the intraocular lens to be implanted in patients undergoing cataract surgery.
Detects visual field defects and serves to assess the progression or not of glaucoma.
Fundus photography is used to document, evaluate and compare alterations in the optic nerve, macula and posterior pole of the eye.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive and painless test that allows visualization of the integrity of the macula. If we focus on glaucoma, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) allows us to study the optic nerve for early diagnosis and follow-up of glaucomatous damage.
It allows to know the state of the cornea, particularly the corneal endothelium, information that is necessary for the indication of intraocular lens for refractive purposes or when cataract surgery is considered. In addition, with this equipment, it is possible to know the visual prognosis of cataract surgeries and the ophthalmologist will be able to determine the need to perform surgery or not, in order to avoid possible complications.
OPTOMETRIC SERVICES
OPTOMETRIC CARE
The Dr. Oswaldo Loor Foundation relies on two highly qualified optometry professionals and a modern autokeratorefractometer to detect and correct refractive ocular alterations such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia, through the prescription of monofocal, contact, bifocal and
progressive lenses, among others.
OPTICAL SHOP
The medical center has an optical shop that offers a wide variety of lenses, frames and optical accessories to satisfy the tastes of those seeking care at the Foundation.
AGREEMENTS WITH OTHER COMPANIES
The Foundation provides services to companies by visiting them on their premises. The optometric examination is free of charge and glasses are prescribed only to those who need them. The lenses offered through this modality of attention have the same prices as those of the medical center and the form of payment is established in the agreement signed with each company.
