BAJA VISIÓN PROGRAM
GET TO KNOW MORE ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
TO WHOM IT IS ADDRESSED
This program serves people who have suffered a significant loss of vision that cannot be corrected with glasses, treatment or surgery. People with low vision have difficulties in performing daily life activities such as reading, writing, recognizing faces, mobility, etc. The objective of this program is to help patients with low vision to be able to use their remaining vision in these daily activities.
HOW WE
DO IT
A team of professionals, integrated by an ophthalmologist, an optometrist and a visual therapist, examines the condition of the eyeball of these patients and prescribes them optical aids such as magnifying glasses, telescopes, etc. and non-optical aids such as lecterns or filters, within others. They are then provided with visual therapy sessions to learn and practice how to use the prescribed optical aids. The visual therapist also provides the necessary recommendations so that people with low vision can perform different activities. When the visual impairment is severe, patients are transferred to the Luz Program to be supported in the appropriate rehabilitation techniques to enable them to function independently despite their limited vision.
